1. MANEO Charity Dinner 2008

At the MANEO Charity Dinner 2008, Berlin’s Governing Mayor, Klaus Wowereit, under whose patronage the MANEO Action Days on the occasion of the International Day Against Homophobia on May 17 again stood, called for the support of MANEO. In front of an exclusive circle of guests from the world of business, sports and politics, who were offered a superb six-course menu with music and shows in the Dinner Club of Berlin’s in-location Bagaluu, Wowereit stressed: “I wish MANEO a lot of support, many voluntary helpers, but also an institutional frame making this support possible.”

With its annual Charity Dinner, marking the end of the donation week within the frame of the MANEO Action Days, MANEO seeks to gain support for its activities. Since financing by Berlin’s Senate Administration is insufficient, MANEO each year must raise donation funds amounting to tens of thousands of euros.

Robert Stadlober, actor (“Sommersturm”, “Sonnenallee”): “I have already experienced intolerance against homosexuals myself, because I played the role of a young gay in the film ‘Sommersturm’ and was accosted by youths in the street for this reason with ‘Hey, you fag, hey you homo, I’m gonna to hit you in the face.’ I support MANEO because their work makes sense.”
The guests of the MANEO Charity Dinner 2008 included Klaus Wowereit, Alfred Biolek, Robert Stadlober (actor, “Sommersturm”), David Winter (actor), Gabi Decker (cabaret artist), Pierre Sanoussi-Bliss (“Der Alte”), Kristin Meyer (“GZSZ”), Patrick Winczewski (“Der Landarzt”), Sabina Kaack (“Die Drombuschs”), Axel Herrig (actor), Harald Pignatelli (RBB presenter), Peter Kurth (member of the board of ALBA AG), and Dr. Bernd Schmidt (director of Friedrichstadtpalast), among others.
