How to protect yourself?

Make your boundaries clear. Repel unwanted advances and touches confidently and determinedly. Your body and your sexuality belong to you! Yes is yes and no is no.

Trust your instincts, your feelings and your alarm signals. If someone is being intrusive and you feel uncomfortable, give a clear sign you want it to stop. Time pressure or psychological pressure have no part to play in flirting and getting to know each other.

Tell your date or sex partner what you like and what you don’t want. He must respect your boundaries. If he doesn’t then rebuff him – there are other opportunities out there for you!

Bear in mind that drugs and alcohol weaken your instincts and your ability to react. You’re an easy target if you’re drunk.

Be careful if you’re the target of sudden, frantic advances in clubs, bars or on the street. Some perpetrators are deliberately sexually intrusive in order to confuse their victim before robbing them.

Self-assured behaviour can protect you from advances and attacks in many cases. You can learn such behaviour! We can tell you how and where.
