“Kiss Kiss Berlin” was the motto for MANEO’s seventh series of events in Berlin to mark the International Day Against Homophobia and Trans*phobia (17 May). Working with numerous supporters and Berlin Tolerance Coalition partners, MANEO invited people to take part in a diverse range of activities across the city.

At 12.30 pm on 16 May 2013, the President of the Berlin State Parliament Ralf Wieland, the Governing Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit and the Senator for Work, Integration and Women Dilek Kolat, cut the MANEO Kiss Kiss Berlin Rainbow Cake, which was sponsored by the Park Inn Hotel by Radisson, in the presence of members of all political parties represented in the Parliament.

MANEO’s violence prevention team and Night-flight Stewards handed over the MANEO Re- port 2012 to party represen- tatives. Shortly beforehand, the report was presented at a press conference involving the State Secretary for Justice Alexander Straßmeir and the Berlin Police contact person for same-sex lifestyles Harald Kröger.

Many Kiss Kiss Berlin Rainbow Cakes were cut in the city the day before 17 May: supported by Pink Pillow, a Visit Berlin working group, 2 around 20 Berlin hotels took part in the MANEO initiative and offered guests slices of Rainbow Cake to mark the day. The BioCompany in Ber- lin, which alongside the Konditorei Tillmann was the first citywide company to take part in the Kiss Kiss Berlin Rainbow Cake initiative and offered Rainbow Cakes in its outlets in the city.

Participants in the Kiss Kiss Berlin Rainbow Cake initiative mounted a visible campaign for a city of diversity and tolerance and at the same time against homophobia, transphobia and hate violence, and any form of prejudice-motivated violence.
